A new camouflage pattern has emerged over the past fifteen years or so called digital camouflage which features a pixelated look. This new pattern was determined to result in lower probability of being detected compared to the traditional camouflage uniforms. The Canadian Forces have started experimenting with this pattern in the late 90s with what they call CADPAT or Canadian Disruptive Pattern and have first issued an official design of it in 2002. Over the years, military forces in the United States and other counties have followed suit with their own digital camouflage versions.
